ABOUT FARRAGUT

The Town of Farragut was incorporated on Jan. 16, 1980, and has built a reputation for having beautiful neighborhoods, outstanding schools and abundant shopping and dining since then. Farragut’s growing population will be evident when the 2020 U.S. Census is complete. In 2020, the Town had 23,506 residents. 

Farragut does not have a municipal property tax; residents pay the same property tax as other Knox County residents, $.2.12 per $100 of assessed property value. The majority of the Town's revenue comes from local sales tax.

Law enforcement for the Town of Farragut is provided by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The KCSO West Precinct is located at 11429 Parkside Drive in the Turkey Creek Shopping Center. Fire, emergency and ambulance service is available by subscription with Rural Metro Corporation.

Knox County operates four public schools within the Town: Farragut Primary, Intermediate, Middle and High Schools. Private schools in Farragut include St. John Neumann Catholic School, Concord Christian School and Knoxville Christian School.

Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive, houses staff offices, the Farragut Museum and gift shop, and satellite offices for the Knox County Clerk and Trustee (second floor). Hours: Farragut Town Hall - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; Farragut Museum - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday; Knox County Clerk - 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"New normal" is achieved in FY2022

While life may never return to the way it was before 2020, all annual events returned to Farragut in FY2022.

Regular annual events include Songwriters Showcase, Shamrock Ball, Farragut Book Fest for Children, the Bob Watt Youth Fishing Rodeo, the Independence Day Parade, Fun with Farragut's Fleet, Art Fest, Freaky Friday Fright Nite and Celebrate the Season. The Town also co-sponsors events with the Farragut Business Alliance (Shop Farragut) and the Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce. Learn more about Farragut events at farragutparksandrec.org.

Facilities

 

In addition to Farragut Town Hall, Farragut facilities include the Farragut Community Center, the historic Campbell Station Inn and Mayor Ralph McGill Plaza, 17 miles of greenway, and five parks: Anchor Park, BlueCross Healthy Place at Town Hall, Founders Park at Campbell Station, Mayor Bob Leonard Park and McFee Park.

Each park has different amenities, but all have restroom facilities and four have picnic pavilions that can be reserved. A variety of sports fields can also be reserved.

The Farragut Community Center has a middle school-sized gymnasium, an Assembly Hall and two classrooms that are available for rent.

Reservations can be made by calling 865-218-3376. Pavilion reservations can be made online at townoffarragut.org/register. You will be required to create an account before making online reservations.
