FY2019 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Received a $325,000 Local Parks and Recreation Fund Grant and completed design documents to reconstruct and enlarge the restroom and entrance plaza and constructing ADA access to rectangular and diamond fields both for spectators and participants. This matching grant is administered through the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Recreation Educational Services Division.

  • Completed the first year of a new tourism initiative, which included a songwriters event, housing for the Children’s Defense Fund annual conference and creation/maintenance of VisitFarragut.org.

  • Coordinated 25 major, minor and co-sponsored events with a total estimated attendance of approximately 20,000.

  • Adopted the McFee Park Phase 3 design and initiated design documents.

  • Created an online alternative to the printed Farragut Annual Report.

  • Completed and premiered a Farragut/Concord history video and featured two special exhibits:  Hometown History (Farragut/Concord) and Honoring our Veterans.

  • Expanded social media to include other outlets, production of video and advanced content for better user engagement.

  • Completed Phase 2 of Campbell Station Inn, which included stabilization, new wiring, HVAC, roof and finish work on the outside of the inn. Design plans for Phase 3, which includes the construction of a plaza, open spaces, some restroom, parking and new entrance drives, were completed for the surrounding two acres. 

  • Coordinated preliminary design for Union Road, including public meetings and approval by Farragut Municipal Planning Commission.

  • Coordinated completion of right of way plans for Virtue Road project.

  • Completed coordination of design and right of way phases for intersection improvements at Watt Road and Kingston Pike.

  • Completed coordination of the Town’s Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality-funded project to improve signal timing at all of the Town’s 26 signalized intersections, including minor hardware improvements.

  • Secured additional $4.02 million funds for construction phase of the Town’s Advanced Traffic Management Phase 2 project, which will provide significant upgrades to the Town’s signal network, including communication, monitoring and ability to modify timing from Town Hall.

  • Completed coordination of emergency repairs to three failed stormwater pipes at Mapletree Drive, Red Mill Lane and Campbell Station Road after February flood event.

  • Adopted the 2018 ICC Codes.

  • Implemented a software program for plans review, scheduling, and inspections.

  • Processed 875 building permits, including  the Overlook Apartments, the Villages of Farragut Senior Living, Tennova West, NHC Memory Care, and Town projects at the Campbell Station Inn, Anchor Park, and the Community Center, for a total estimated value of $112,161,659.

  • Implemented amendments to the Future Land Use Map in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan to promote the community’s vision.

  • Created a corridor-specific zoning district for the Outlet Drive corridor (Outlet Drive Regional Entertainment and Employment District).

  • Created an ordinance addressing short-term rentals.

  • Created a new zoning district for neighborhood/convenience commercial.

  • Received the Government Finance Officers Association Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 27th consecutive year.

  • Received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2019 budget for the fourth year in a row.

FY2020 GOALS

  • Complete Anchor Park renovations – new restroom, plaza, ADA access and parking.

  • Complete Campbell Station Inn Phase 3. The design for this park-like area includes two new entrance drives, a parking area and restroom building, along with open lawns with landscaping and interpretive signage.

  • Complete design documents and start construction on McFee Park Phase 3. New amenities will include a great lawn, four lighted tennis/pickleball courts, a basketball court, a walking trail, new restrooms and a large pavilion.

  • Create a Parks & Recreation department website.

  • Complete renovations to Farragut Community Center and offer rentals, programs, classes and events.

  • Complete a tourism plan.

  • Complete a Parks & Recreation Master Plan.

  • Coordinate completion of National Environmental Policy Actphase of Union Road project development and begin acquisition of right of way and easements.

  • Complete acquisition of right of way and easements for Virtue Road project.

  • Secure funding through the Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (KRTPO) for first phases of project development for improvements to Virtue Road from Boyd Station Road to 2,200 feet south of Broadwood Drive.

  • Secure funding through KRTPO for transportation planning study of Jamestowne Boulevard as an alternate route for Kingston Pike/Campbell Station Road motorists to alleviate congestion at the Kingston Pike/Campbell Station Road intersection. 

  • Begin construction on the Town’s Advanced Traffic Management Phase 2 project to provide significant upgrades to the Town’s existing traffic signal network.

  • Complete coordination of 2019 resurfacing project, including resurfacing of Peterson Road, St. John Court, a portion of Brochardt Boulevard and repairs at Watt Road.

  • Secure a professional consulting firm to begin inspection, evaluation, and mapping of the Town’s existing stormwater infrastructure. Review pipe inspection data collected in FY19 to prepare a replacement plan for FY20.

  • Complete the sign ordinance update.
  • Work to implement development under the Neighborhood/Convenience Commercial and Outlet Drive Regional Entertainment and Employment districts.

  • Update the Major Road Plan and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan.

  • Update the telecommunications provisions.

  • Update Incode, the Town's accounting, payroll, human resources and financial reporting software.

  • Update security features at Town facilities.

  • Remodel Town Hall public restrooms.

  • Update the Town’s classification and compensation system for town employees.
