Forty years of Farragut living
The Town of Farragut was incorporated on Jan. 16, 1980, and has built a reputation for having beautiful neighborhoods, outstanding schools and abundant shopping and dining since then. Farragut’s growing population will be evident when the 2020 U.S. Census is complete. In 2016, the Town had 22,676 residents.
Farragut does not have a municipal property tax; residents pay the same property tax as other Knox County residents, $2.12 per $100 of assessed property value. The majority of the Town's revenue comes from local sales tax.
Law enforcement for the Town of Farragut is provided by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The KCSO West Precinct is located at 11429 Parkside Drive in the Turkey Creek Shopping Center. Fire, emergency and ambulance service is available by subscription with AMR-Rural/Metro Corporation.
Knox County operates four public schools within the Town: Farragut primary, intermediate, middle and high schools. Private schools in Farragut include St. John Neumann Catholic School, Concord Christian School and Knoxville Christian School.
Farragut Town Hall, 11408 Municipal Center Drive, houses staff offices as well as several meeting rooms, the Farragut Museum and gift shop, and satellite offices for the Knox County Clerk and Trustee (second floor). Hours: Farragut Town Hall--8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; Knox County Clerk--8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; Farragut Museum--10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and in conjunction with special events.
The Town of Farragut offers several annual community events: Songwriters Showcase, Shamrock Ball, Farragut Book Fest for Children, the Bob Watt Fishing Rodeo, the Independence Day Parade, Fun with Farragut's Fleet, Freaky Friday Fright Nite and Celebrate the Season. In addition to Farragut Town Hall, Farragut facilities include the future Farragut Community Center, the historic Campbell Station Inn and surrounding green space, 17 miles of greenway, and four parks: Anchor Park, Founders Park at Campbell Station, Mayor Bob Leonard Park and McFee Park.
Each park has different amenities, but all have restroom facilities and three have picnic pavilions that can be reserved. A variety of sports fields can also be reserved.
The Town Hall community room is available for rent by any non-profit or homeowner-based organization.
